Bushido-Kai Jujitsu
Bushido-kai Jujitsu is a Self-Defense based program that focuses on both traditional and modern Jujitsu techniques. The core of our program is Yoshin-Ryu Jujitsu, Sensei McKinnon was a student of Yoshin-Ryu for 10 years and holds the rank of Third Dan. Since 1984 he has been training and researching a number of styles including Therien Jujitsu ,C.J A Jujitsu under Shihan Robert Kranstz who has been teaching seminars at the Halifax Academy for over seven years. Sensei McKinnon was promoted to 4th Dan under the World Kobudo Federation Students advance in Rank in the Bushido-kai Jujitsu program and are members under the World Kobudo Federation


Kickboxing
The Bushido-Kai Kickboxing program covers the following styles, Amateur Kickboxing, Muay Thai and Jun Fan Kickboxing. Students are introduced to the techniques and drills of each style. Ongoing seminars are taught by 23 Time World Champion Jean-Yves Theriault and Muay Thai coach Rob Doley. Our Muay Thai program follows the rules and techniques of the Thai Boxing Association of Canada under the direction of the Thai Boxing Association U.S.A under Guro Rob Doley and Ajarn Surachai Sirisute Students who wish to work towards certification in Muay Thai must attend all Guru Rob's seminars when held at the Halifax Academy.




Jun-Fan Gung-Fu/ Jeet Kune Do and Filipino Martial Arts

Jun-Fan Gung-Fu focuses on three ranges of combat, trapping, striking and grappling. The techniques and drills where designed by the late Bruce Lee. The Bushido-Kai Academy is the only school certified in Nova Scotia under the direction of Guru Rob Doley who is under Guru Dan Inosanto. Students will follow the curriculum that was established by Bruce Lee and handed down to Guru Inoanto then to Guru Rob Doley and to Ray McKinnon and Roger Stone. The Filipino Martial Arts program is a combination of the Inosanto curriculum, Kali DeLeone and other styles that the instructors have researched. Note: there are no rankings, belts or promotions in these styles. After a students years of study they can be tested under Guru Rob Doley and receive certification under Guru Rob. Students who wish to work towards certification must attend all Guru Rob's seminars when held at the Halifax Academy.

 Brazilian Jiu-jitsu / Submission Wrestling
The Bushido-Kai offers B.J.J under Sensei Nathan Stevers (Blue Belt) and under the direction of Kevin Taylor (Renzo Gracie Black Belt). We also practice Submission Wrestling using the Canadian Shootwrestling system. Students have the chance to compete in local competitions and are trained by instructors with years of experience in Judo, Wrestling and B.J.J.  

Note: We do not train pro fighters. Our program is for recreation and amateur events
